Cored-wire spheroidizing feeds a steel sheath containing magnesium-bearing alloy into molten iron at a controlled rate. It can support repeatable dosing, automated treatment records and a more contained reaction than some open-addition methods.
The method is not a drop-in replacement for process control. Wire filling consistency, sheath dimensions, feed speed, ladle geometry, melt temperature and sulfur level all affect magnesium recovery. Post-treatment inoculation remains a separate step and must be planned around the available fading time.
