How to Specify FeSiMg Nodulizer for Repeatable Ductile Iron Treatment

Ferrosilicon-magnesium nodulizer introduces magnesium so graphite can form as spheroids rather than flakes. The commercial grade must fit the foundry’s actual treatment method and base iron condition.

A high-magnesium alloy may reduce addition weight but can create a more intense reaction. Lower-magnesium or controlled-calcium grades may suit other ladle and cover practices. Rare-earth level should be selected for the charge quality and casting section, not treated as a universal quality indicator.

Quotation data

  • Base iron sulfur and treatment temperature
  • Sandwich, tundish-cover, wire or other treatment method
  • Target residual magnesium and recovery experience
  • Required Mg, Ca, RE, Si and Al limits
  • Lump size, fines tolerance and packing

Because nodulizer is not the same as inoculant, list both requirements separately. Hyborton can coordinate the relevant foundry alloy inquiry through the contact page.
