Microsilica is specified when a concrete or mortar system needs a finer pore structure, pozzolanic reactivity or improved cohesion. Common project drivers include chloride exposure, water-retaining structures, high compressive strength and demanding repair work.
Demand should not be interpreted as one universal grade. SiO2, loss on ignition, moisture, retained oversize, densification and dispersion behavior can all affect batching and performance. Buyers should also distinguish between concrete and refractory grades.
